Whoopi Goldberg Says She Became Immobile And Struggled To Eat

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg revealed last week that she spent the show’s summer break laid up with a bad back, requiring her to rely on others to help her to the bathroom and feed her.

When “The View” returned with new shows last week, the ladies discussed what they did during their summer break.

While her co-hosts recounted travel and other vacation plans, Whoopi said she was home nursing her back.

She said her back problem left her mostly immobile and she needed people to come by to help feed her and get her to the bathroom.

When co-host Sunny Hostin asked how she injured her back, Goldberg admitted that she wasn’t sure what she did to it.

Co-host Ana Navarro offered some treatment advice, suggesting that Whoopi should try acupuncture. She explained that she once suffered from back problems while traveling and decided to try acupuncture.

Navarro said she always considered acupuncture “the kookiest thing in the world.” But after she had it done, she “felt so great.”

Whoopi told Navarro that she had tried acupuncture, adding that she has tried “everything.” She said she thinks her back problems are her body’s way of saying she overdid it and needed to “sit down.”

Whoopi explained that she isn’t “a big sitter,” preferring to keep moving and “doing stuff.” But after getting laid up over the summer break, “I got the message,” she added.

Whoopi said from now on, if her back acts up, she stops, adding, “It was really good for me.”
