(FiveNation.com)- On Monday, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar claimed that more than 5,300 Russian troops had been killed by the Ukrainian military and citizens fighting back against their invasion.
Maliar made the claim in a post on Facebook, which was then translated by the Ukrinform Ukrainian state news service. The defense minister said that Russia had also lost 29 combat aircraft, 191 tanks, 816 armored fighting vehicles, 29 helicopters, and 74 artillery pieces.
For a military substantially smaller and less powerful than Russia, that’s…impressive.
Maliar said that the numbers were “approximate” – and now, several days later, those numbers are likely to be substantially higher.
Maliar said that her ministry is receiving data from the battlefield most days.
On Sunday night, the Russian military officially admitted that it had seen casualties, however it did not provide an insight into how many people have been killed or wounded so far. Nor did the Russian military or government say how many pieces of equipment they had lost in their invasion of Ukraine so far.
The admission came from Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov. He said that there are “dead and wounded among our comrades” but that the Russian losses are so far “many times” smaller than the losses seen in Ukraine.
As if that’s something to be proud of…
“All faces, voices, phones, their coordinates, IP addresses, as well as correspondence of all Ukrainian Nazis involved in the torture of our comrades have been recorded and identified. This also applies to the leaders of the Kyiv regime and their perpetrators, who directly call for bullying of Russian servicemen in violation of the convention on the treatment of prisoners of war. All of you will be found and will inevitably bear severe responsibility,” Konashenkov said.
While the world watches in horror and condemns these acts of unprovoked violence, Russia is bragging about how many “Ukrainian Nazis” it has killed.
