Former talk show host Wendy Williams has been seen in public again after a year out of the spotlight.
Recent photos showed Williams, 60, shopping at a toney health food boutique in Newark, New Jersey, called Bolingo Balance. The photos were posted August 6.
Williams has struggled for years with mounting health problems which have often left her seeming confused or incoherent. Williams hosted a talk show named after her for 14 years, with the final episode airing in 2022. Fans began to notice that she did not seem as sharp, and her thoughts seemed scattered, toward the end of the show’s run.
Graves suffers from a number of illnesses such as Grave’s Disease, a form of hyperthyroidism; she has also struggled with drug addiction.
Graves Disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes hyperthyroidism, which is when that gland produces too much of the hormone it manufactures. The condition causes damage to the heart and other muscles. Though other conditions can cause an overactive thyroid, Grave’s disease is responsible for 60 to 80 percent of cases.
An employee at the store she was shopping at told media Williams, who came in with her son Kevin Hunter Jr., seemed “sharp, upbeat, and aware.” During her visit Williams met privately with owner Victor Bowman to talk about various health products. He said her son Kevin was on hand to explain the store’s operating philosophy, which was less familiar to Williams.
The owner said he sent Williams off with a number of herbal supplements, especially those that contain a lot of iron, such as sarsaparilla, which is thought to help balance hormones and emotions. He said the TV star seemed most interested in improving her circulation, but that he didn’t want to offer more details about their conversation.
The recent photos depict an apparently happy Williams, and store owner Bowman posted them to his Facebook page. Fans were delighted to see the star, commenting on how happy and healthy she looked.
