(FiveNation.com)- Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination but who was beaten by the Democrat establishment, said on Monday that the videos released by Project Veritas showing ballot harvesting in Minnesota proved that the method of collecting votes needs to be banned.
Gabbard said that the footage, which shows the brother of a city council member bragging about collecting hundreds of votes, was “further evidence of the need to ban ballot harvesting” in order to protect “our sacred right to vote.”
Publishing a video to Twitter, Gabbard said that Congress needs to pass a bipartisan bill she was put forward “to ban ballot harvesting.”
Project Veritas offers further evidence of the need to ban ballot harvesting. It’s not a partisan issue. It’s been abused to help both R & D candidates, including in North Carolina & California. Please help by telling your congressional rep to pass our bipartisan bill HR8285. https://t.co/AJequVVrzc

“Project Veritas offers further evidence of the need to ban ballot harvesting,” she added. “It’s not a partisan issue. It’s been abused to help both R& D candidates, including in North Carolina and California. Please help by telling your congressional rep to pass our bipartisan bill HR8285.”
In the video she attached to the tweet, which Gabbard recorded over a week ago, she said that it is “critical to remember that the strength of our democracy lies in the integrity of our elections” and that “every one of us has to have faith that our vote will count.”
In recent weeks, that faith has been called into serious question. Not only has the ballot harvesting video published by Project Veritas initiated an investigation by the Minnesota Police Department, but an investigation in Pennsylvania discovered how a postal worker discarded of nine military absentee ballots that were all cast for President Donald Trump.
“Now to protect the integrity of our vote in our elections, I’ve introduced legislation called the Election Fraud Prevention Act with my friend Representative Rodney Davis,” Gabbard said in the video.
“Our bipartisan bill protects the chain of custody for every one of our ballots by prohibiting funding from going to states that allow this practice of ballot harvesting to occur. This bill will actually encourage states to stop this practice that’s ripe for fraud, and that poses a serious threat to the integrity of our elections. And we urge our leaders in Congress to take up this legislation quickly to support and ensure the integrity of our elections.”
Democrats have, however, successfully used ballot harvesting in more elections than Republicans, and even flipped seven House seats in the 2018 elections using the system. So are they likely to want to outlaw it?
