GOP nominee Donald Trump started selling limited-edition watches next month that ranged in price from $499 all the way up to $100,000.
In marketing them to the public, he touted how they were made with precision by Swiss artisans.
A recent CNN investigation, though, traced the origins of these watches to a shopping center located in the remote town of Sheridan, Wyoming. That’s where the company that created the timepieces, called TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC, is based out of.
The liberal media outlet reported that there wasn’t any indication that a company that makes watches was based out of the location where the address said it was.
What is there is a daycare center. Next door are a Wendy’s, a “vape and hemp smoke shop” and an H&R Block.
During their investigation, CNN couldn’t discover the specific people who were behind Trump’s watch company, since the location of the business legally allows them to hide those details from the public.
At the same time, there are some other businesses that are linked with Trump that have that same address. That includes the LLC that is behind the gold sneakers that Trump produced.
The company officially registered on July 29, which is about two months before the former president announced he was launching the line of watches.
Also at that address in Wyoming is a lobbying firm that represents the government of Wyoming, as well as a company called Kingdom Honey LLC that sells products the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said people shouldn’t consume.
That company goes by an oddly similar name to the watch company, TheBestHoneyOnEarth.
A spokesperson for Kingdom Honey said it was “a highly reputable company” but didn’t respond to specific questions CNN had for them. The spokesperson did add, though:
“We’ve received direction from our leadership in the U.S. not to engage with any news agencies (specifically CNN) until after November 5.”
That date, of course, is the presidential election.
The company also said it “cannot provide any information or details at this time” when they were asked whether they were linked to Trump in any way.
The watches in question are made with “premium, Swiss-made materials,” as Trump pitched when launching the line recently.
There are many different colorways to choose from, and his signature is right on the face of the clock. When he launched the line, he wrote on his Truth Social platform:
“The Official Trump Watch Collection is here, and these Watches are truly special — You’re going to love them. Would make a great Christmas Gift. Don’t wait, they will go fast.”
The person who registered the businesses behind Trump’s watch and sneaker lines is Andrew Pierce, an attorney based in Wyoming who operates the business Wyoming LLC Attorney with his father, Mark.
The company posts on its website that it specializes in “anonymous LLCs to shield your personal information.”
