Trump Says Taiwan Will Be Invaded Next

(FiveNation.com)- It’s bad enough that one Communist country has invaded one of its neighbors in an effort to expand and exert more control; having another Communist country do the same could be disastrous.

But, that’s exactly what former President Donald Trump said he believes will happen sometime in the near future.

This week, Trump spoke with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, saying he believed that China will soon invade Taiwan. The host specifically asked Trump whether he thought this would happen sooner rather than later, and he replied that he did “because they’re seeing how stupid the United States is run.”

He added:

“They’re seeing that our leaders are incompetent, and, of course, they’re going to do — this is their time.”

Despite calls for them to condemn Russia’s attack on Ukraine, China has completely avoided doing so. Instead, they’ve backed the invasion tacitly, which has many people concerned that the Chinese could soon initiate a similar campaign of their own.

Tensions have been simmering with China in regards to Taiwan in recent years. China believes that they have sovereignty over Taiwan, which is an independent nation.

America’s relationship with China dwindled during the Trump administration, especially toward the end. In addition to the former president attacking some of China’s approaches to business, he also repeatedly blamed them for starting the COVID-19 pandemic, and for lying and covering up important details about it.

Since leaving the White House, Trump has repeatedly criticized the Biden administration, and he did so again in his interview with Fox Business. He specifically referred to how President Joe Biden handled the military withdrawal from Afghanistan, and said China’s president, Xi Jingping, has paid attention to how that situation was handled as he plans his next moves with Taiwan.

As Trump said of Xi:

“And he looks at what happened in Afghanistan, the way we pulled out. He saw the way that we left Afghanistan like a surrender and left $85 billion and death behind and left American citizens there that are still trying to get out.

“And he sees that, and this is his opportunity to do what he wants to do, which is … he’s wanted to do that, and China’s wanted to do that for decades.”

This week, a delegation of U.S. officials is traveling to Taiwan to show their ongoing support for the island nation. That delegation will be led by General Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The group will meet with officials from Taiwan, including President Tsai Ing-wen.

Another reason why people believe China may soon invade Taiwan is that Taiwan has gone lockstep with western countries such as America in sanctioning Russia for their invasion of Ukraine. Taiwan has removed some financial institutions based in Russia from the SWIFT financial system.

China, meanwhile, has said it’s completely opposed to all of the sanctions that are being put in place on Russia by the U.S. and other countries.

It’s moves like these that some people like Trump feel could anger China even more, and convince them that now is a good time to invade.
