(FiveNation.com)- Another Trump book has been released and, unsurprisingly, it manages to paint former President Donald Trump in an unflattering light.
The book, “Trump’s Peace: The Abraham Accords and the Reshaping of the Middle East” by Barak Ravid recounts how downright furious Trump was when Israel’s former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his congratulations to Joe Biden after Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
Ravid, who conducted two separate interviews with former President Trump for his book, said during their first interview in April, Trump was so angry that a head of state would congratulate the newly elected President, he hadn’t spoken to Netanyahu since. Trump said of his former close friend, “F*ck him.”
Trump claimed that Netanyahu was the first world leader to congratulate Biden (he wasn’t). He told Ravid that he had done more for Netanyahu than anyone else, so the least Netanyahu could have done was stay quiet. “He has made a terrible mistake,” Trump told Ravid.
In their first interview, Trump said he liked Netanyahu and always has, but he also likes “loyalty.” And it especially bothered Trump that Netanyahu posted a video on social congratulating Biden.
Netanyahu offered his congratulations to Joe Biden two weeks after the 2020 election. He held off until Biden was officially declared the winner. And even then, it took him twelve hours to do so.
Trump is angry that Netanyahu chose not to wade into the election controversy, but instead behaved like a world leader that wants to maintain a good working relationship with the incoming US administration. In short, Netanyahu put Israel first while Trump wanted him to put Trump first.
When Ravid sat down with former President Trump for his second interview in July, though he was still bothered by Netanyahu’s congratulations video, Ravid notes that Trump was calmer about it.
Even so, Trump still wouldn’t let it go, telling Ravid that Netanyahu lost his re-election because he posted that congratulations video. “That hurt him badly with the people of Israel,” Trump told Ravid.
