(FiveNation.com)- Morgan Ortagus, former spokeswoman for the Department of State, recently achieved the much-coveted official “Complete and Total endorsement” from former President Donald Trump should she decide to run for Congress in Tennessee.
In a statement published by his Save America PAC, the former president said that he is told the “very strong and impress Morgan Ortagus” is looking to run for Congress in the 5th Congressional district of Tennessee.
“I couldn’t be happier because she’s an absolute warrior for America First and MAGA!” he wrote.
Ortagus worked under former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and while she has the full support of the former president, that enthusiasm is not shared by all of the former president’s supporters.
Trump said that Morgan was “fantastic” during her time at the State Department and that she understands the threat posed by Russia, China, Iran, and others.
Should Ortagus go for the seat, however, she would be competing against fairly popular social media star Robby Starbuck.
Sebastien Gorka, a former Trump administration official, announced on January 25 that he supported Starbuck.
I’m with @robbystarbuck

Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn also reaffirmed his support for Starbuck.
“I endorsed @robbystarbuck months ago and I stand by my endorsement. He is the best candidate in the country right now. The MAGA movement needs him in Congress!” he said.

Former President Trump’s endorsement, however, could be enough for Ortagus to win the race – and she could ultimately prove a more successful candidate. It appears likely that the former president is searching for a candidate he is already familiar with, and who understands international threats.
Should she run, this could prove a bitter dispute between Trump and his base.
