Trump Dismisses Claims That Queen Elizabeth Found Him ‘Very Rude’

Donald Trump has denied suggestions that the late Queen of England found him rude and insisted he was one of her favorite world leaders. A new biography of the UK’s longest-serving Monarch contains a claim that the Queen did not like Trump and thought he was a “sleazebag.” Elizabeth II also reportedly disliked his lack of engagement when she spoke to him, saying he didn’t listen and looked over his shoulder as if searching for someone more interesting to talk to.

Additionally, the Queen reportedly commented on the former President’s relationship with his wife, Melania. She described the marriage as “some sort of arrangement” and questioned why Melania stayed married to Trump because the couple did not seem to be close.

During a speech on defense in North Carolina, a reporter asked former President Trump about the revelations, and he insisted they were false. “I had a great relationship with the Queen; she liked me, and I liked her,” he said.

Trump first met the Queen in 2018 at Windsor Castle in England. He immediately stirred controversy by walking in front of her during a Guard of Honor inspection – a significant faux pas. A year later, Trump returned to the UK and once again defied Royal decorum by touching the Queen and sparking widespread criticism in the British media.

The former President accused Craig Brown, author of the new biography A Voyage Around the Queen, of fabricating the story to promote his book. He insisted that he and Queen Elizabeth were “friends,” and that he spoke to her often. His communications director, Steven Cheung, dismissed the book as “fake news.”

The UK’s late Queen met with thirteen US Presidents during her reign. In 2021, a year before her death, she hosted Joe and Jill Biden at Windsor Castle. Ten years earlier, Barack and Michelle Obama joined her for a state banquet at her London residence, Buckingham Palace. The Obamas also met with the Queen in 2009. She hosted George W. Bush in 2007, and counts George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, John F. Kennedy, President Eisenhower, and President Truman among the guests she dined with during her 70 years on the throne.
