House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and his colleagues held a 50-minute press conference last Wednesday to discuss the $10 million that was funneled from Romanian and Chinese individuals and businesses through a web of 20 shell corporations and into the bank accounts of nine Biden family members and several of Hunter Biden’s business associates. Joe Biden was involved in several deals both when he was vice president and after he left office.
Hunter Biden and his associates established the shell firms for the sole purpose of accepting deposits, which were then transferred to the personal bank accounts of members of the Biden family.
Since these dealings served no apparent commercial purpose, the participating banks filed more than 170 Suspicious Activity Reports. To paraphrase former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman– If you can’t identify the business of those 25 LLCs, then you have a shell game to move money.
The committee’s findings were mind-blowing. The current president of the United States is implicated in a shady lobbying campaign. Congressional investigators have gathered together the material. This is important news.
On Wednesday night, many networks virtually ignored the story, including ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News.
Because President Biden was not listed among the nine family members who had received payments, some traditional media outlets interpreted Comer’s findings as proof that he had not been complicit in the conspiracy.
According to the New York Times’s banner story, “House Republican Report Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by President Biden.”
Because only his family members received cash, the media has drawn the ridiculous conclusion that Biden is in the clear.
There is evidence that Joe Biden benefited financially from the family business, as evidenced by emails on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Recall the email that revealed how the Biden family’s arrangement with Chinese energy company CEFC had resulted in a 10% cut for “the big guy.” Tony Bobulinski, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, publicly said that he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that “the big guy” is Joe Biden.
The inquiry by House Republicans must continue, and the conservative media must persistently report their findings. The public, however, must judge whether or not the Bidens are worthy of the influential positions to which they have been elevated.
