Texas Governor Sends Letter To VP Harris, Slamming Her

(FiveNation.com)- Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent a letter to far-left Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday demanding that the Biden administration immediately shut down the migrant detention centers being used to house unaccompanied children.

It’s an incredible turn of events, after Democrats claiming for years during the Trump administration that Republicans were housing children in cages and concentration camps. In recent months, under the Biden administration, the number of illegal aliens and children held in these facilities has increased dramatically, and Governor Abbott insists that recent accusations of child abuse taking place at the venues should now be taken seriously by President Biden.

“The State of Texas previously warned about overcrowded conditions at these facilities, and now those conditions have led to allegations of child abuse and neglect,” Abbott told VP Harris in the letter.

“Our repeated warnings and questions have gone ignored by President Biden, yourself, and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas.”

Abbott referenced Harris’s recent appointment as the “Border Czar” – a role that hasn’t seen the vice president actually do very much to tackle the problem at all – and said that she had a “duty” to protect the children and also a duty to “act immediately” in the interest of the American people.

The Biden administration has committed not to shutting down the San Antonio Facility, however, with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claiming without evidence that there was “no basis” to the demands being made by Governor Abbott.

The Department of Health and Human Services issued a statement on Friday claiming to take its humanitarian mission “seriously”.

“…and while unaccompanied migrant children are in our care under the law, we strive to provide a safe space while they go through immigration proceedings, HHS has a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and inappropriate sexual behavior at all UC care provider facilities,” the statement continued.

The HHS insisted they would continue investigating any incidents that affect the migrant children’s health, and “take the proper measures including initiating employee disciplinary action, termination, and reporting to appropriate investigative entities, such as law enforcement agencies and relevant licensing bodies.”

And while Psaki claims that there is “no basis” to Abbott’s demands, the governor announced on Wednesday how two government agencies in Texas had received complaints alleging child abuse of four different kinds in the facility he is demanding be closed down. The allegations include sexual assault, children not eating, children being exposed to people with COVID-19, and even a shortage of staff.

Why isn’t the Biden administration taking the care of migrant children seriously?
