Sandra Bullock Spotted Headed to Physical Therapy on Crutches

Recently gaining attention for a milestone birthday and the one-year anniversary of her partner’s death, Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock made headlines this week after been seen heading into physical therapy on crutches.

The news broke on Thursday August 29 as the “Miss Congeniality” and “The Blind Side” star was spotted making her way around Santa Monica, California with a companion to help her. The specific injury for which she was getting treatment remains unknown.

But fans of the Academy Award-winning actress caught a few photos, showing Bullock on crutches and dressed in a matching grey sweatshirt and sweatpants. She was apparently hoping not to attract much attention as she also donned a baseball cap representing the New York Yankees.

Bullock’s appearance is notable after she has been away from the spotlight for the past several years, since she intentionally took time to be with her family. The actress adopted her son Louis in 2010 and her daughter Laila in 2015, both of whom she raised alongside her partner Bryan Randall.

Though they never legally married, Bullock and Randall were together from 2015 until 2023, when he died at the age of 57 following a three-year battle with ALS. She described him as “the love of my life,” and he was known to her children as “dad” after a private 2017 ceremony.

ALS—also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease—is a progressive condition in which the motor neurons in the spinal cord deteriorate. Over time, its victims gradually lose the voluntary ability to eat, move, speak, and even breathe. Despite its intensity, Randall decided upon his diagnosis in 2020 that he would fight the disease quietly.

Though his death was a blow to Bullock, she turned 60 last month and was reported to be “doing okay.” A source also said that she is “very happy to be a mom” and is focused on her children. However, she also suggested that she is “open to the possibility” of romance, one year after Randall died on August 5, 2023.
