(FiveNation.com)- According to Peter Navarro, Donald Trump’s former vice president Mike Pence is “guilty of treason” against the president.
Navarro has maintained for a long time that Pence, in his role as the presider over the certification of the results of the 2020 election, has the ability to decide not to recognize Joe Biden as the victor, so allowing Trump to continue serving as president.
Navarro mentioned to Eric Bolling on Monday’s episode of The Balance that he received a phone call from an assistant in the days leading up to January 6, 2021, explaining that Vice President Pence wanted to talk with him.
Navarro reported- I get on the line and it’s crickets. And what happened, I think was that his Koch Brother chief of staff, Marc Short, intercepted the backed Pence off. And the reason why I think Pence is guilty of treason to at least President Trump and perhaps to this country is that he acted on the basis of a flawed legal opinion concocted by his own general counsel. And the reason why I believe that Pence is guilty of treason to at least President Trump and maybe to our country is because he acted on the basis of a defective legal judgment that was produced by his own general counsel.
Pence was informed by the administration’s leading legal minds that he lacked the legal power to challenge the certification of Joe Biden as the election winner.
Bolling questioned Navarro on his conviction that Pence’s lack of action on Navarro’s plan actually qualifies as “treason,” and Navarro answered yes.
“He had a duty to the commander-in-chief to discuss with President Trump and the White House legal counsel the faulty legal opinion Pence was operating upon,” Navarro stated, referring to Pence’s alleged decision-making process.
Navarro said that was how the procedure worked at the White House. Pence did not act in such a manner. After effectively concealing that information from the president, he continued on his merry way and “thrust a knife into President Trump’s back.”
