(FiveNation.com)- A new poll just showed how Americans are sick of engaging in foreign wars, with a majority of American voters believing that the United States should not send troops into Ukraine to fight against Russian troops invading the eastern region of the country.
The poll was performed by the Trafalgar Group and the Convention of States Action and revealed how 84.4% of respondents agreed that the United States government should limit its military involvement in the conflict and that Biden should avoid sending boots-on-the-ground troops to the region.
Some 31% of respondents said that the United States should instead supply weapons and military supplies, and 30.5% said that the U.S. should only use diplomatic pressure to stop. Russia from continuing to encroach into Ukrainian territory.
Barely more than 23% of respondents that the military advisers should be sent to Ukraine, and a tiny 15.3% said that American troops should be sent in to stop a Russian invasion.
It’s the clearest sign yet that former President Donald Trump was right about Americans’ attitudes towards foreign wars, and a sign that President Joe Biden needs to take a step back.
The poll was taken between January 12 and 14, more than a month before President Vladimir Putin announced that the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine are “independent.” Putin has since sent troops into the regions under the guise of a “peacekeeping mission,” with Russian troops “defending” Russian-speaking Ukrainian citizens.
The Trafalgar Group survey also found that 58% of voters believe that the Biden administration should use American military assets to defend Taiwan against China in the event of an invasion, while 42% said that the U.S. should stay out of it.
