(FiveNation.com)- As we enter the final stretch of the 2022 Midterm cycle, polling shows the Democrats are not only losing control of the House but are likely to lose the Senate as well.
A week out from the election, only 2 of the last 14 generic congressional vote surveys had the Democrats leading Republicans. The rest all had Republicans in the lead, often by as much as 6 or 7 points.
The Real Clear Politics Average has Republicans with a nearly 3-point lead in the generic congressional vote, 48 percent to the Democrats’ 45.1 percent.
Election forecasters now believe Republicans will likely pick up 3 seats in the Senate, giving them a 53 to 47 majority.
The coming Red Wave will also boost Republican gubernatorial candidates nationwide, including in deep blue New York where Republican Lee Zeldin is holding his own against Democrat incumbent Kathy Hochul.
And if 2010 is any guide, the Red Wave could affect down-ticket state and local races as well, especially in local school board races.
Last Monday, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich suggested the coming Red Wave is more likely a Red Tsunami.
Appearing on Fox & Friends to discuss what role he believes public education will play in the upcoming midterms, Gingrich said the Republican wave on November 8 is “going to be huge.”
Gingrich cited what he described as the “Transgender Supremacy Act” that Democrats voted for in the House and every Senate Democrat co-sponsored. He said the legislation would place “transgender rights above religious liberty,” adding that this is the kind of radical agenda the Democrats are pushing.
Gingrich said the bad economy coupled with the Democrat Party’s radical agenda is “repelling people from the Democratic Party” on a scale that could lead to the largest Republican victory since 1920.
