(FiveNation.com)- If you thought that President Joe Biden’s announcement last week that more than 80 million Americans will be forced to take the COVID-19 vaccine or lose their jobs was terrifying, then get a load of this.
Reports now suggest that despite the huge backlash to the new mandate, which requires businesses with more than 100 employees to force their employees to get the shot or to take twice-weekly COVID tests, more measures are expected to be announced this week.
United States Surgeon General Vivek Murthy revealed ahead of the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly this week that there will be “more actions” that the White House will “continue to work on, especially in the global front.”
Doesn’t that kind of sound like the White House is looking to pressure the rest of the world into taking similar extreme action?
He added that what the president and the rest of the administration have said is that “we have to use every level of government” and that everyone in the private sector must do “everything we can” to tackle the virus.
Casually conflating government overreach with private sector decisions doesn’t excuse overreach, does it?
He then claimed that the requirements put in place by President Biden are “an example of that.”
In an interview with ABC News this week, Murthy also said that new vaccine mandates placed on employers are already increasing vaccine uptake.
Others, however, have been extremely critical of the plans and even indicated that implementing the mandate – and any other authoritarian measures – will have the opposite effect.
Former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie said in response to the announcement that it will “harden opposition” and said that while he has been known to “go in and use a sledgehammer” in politics, he doesn’t think that this is the time to do it.
Instead, Christie said that the Biden administration must “continue to persuade.”
What do you think – will Biden’s “sledgehammer” approach, which looks to include new measures expected to arrive this week, do more harm than good?
Will being threatened with losing your job force you to take the vaccine?
