Jon Bon Jovi is a legendary singer and songwriter with a highly successful career spanning over 40 years and continuing to this day. Bon Jovi formed a band of the same name out of his home state of New Jersey in 1983 and in 2024 has sold over 130 million records worldwide as well as performed at more than 2,600 concerts since. In 2018, the legendary rock band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Although the lead singer and founding member has many accomplishments to celebrate in his life, the 62-year-old rock singer recently suffered a tragedy, as Bon Jovi’s beloved mother Carol Bongiovi passed away at age 83.
In a recent statement given to People Magazine, Bon Jovi revealed the recent passing of his mother Carol Bongiovi. Bon Jovi revealed that his mother Carol had passed away just days before her 84th birthday. Bon Jovi revealed that his mother passed away at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. In Bon Jovi’s statement, the singer-songwriter paid a heartfelt tribute to his mother by describing her as a “force to be reckoned with”. Bon Jovi also explained how his mother’s spirit and attitude to accomplish anything helped shape his family.
Carol Sharkey enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1959, where she later met her future husband John Bongiovi while enlisted. The Bongiovi’s moved to Sayreville, New Jersey after their time in the Marine Corps where they raised their three children. In her day, Carol Bongiovi was a former Playboy bunny, as well as the founder of the Bon Jovi band’s fan club. The Bongiovi’s later moved to Holmdel, New Jersey, where Carol resided until her death. Bongiovi’s funeral will be held at Holmdel Funeral Home for a private gathering. Bongiovi’s cause of death has yet to be revealed. Bongiovi is survived by her husband John of 63 years, and her three sons.
