(FiveNation.com)- Lindsey Graham, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is calling for an investigation into Hunter Biden.
This week, Graham said the Department of Justice should appoint a special counsel to look into Biden’s business dealings in China and the Ukraine. On Wednesday, he told reporters:
“I am absolutely calling on a special counsel to look at all things Hunter Biden to see if he presents a conflict for the Biden administration regarding his business dealings in Ukraine, which is overrun with Russian agents, and any activity he had with the Chinese government.”
Graham said he had not spoken with President Donald Trump about a possible special counsel being selected for a Hunter Biden probe. He did, however, said it’d be “a good idea” to name a counsel. He continued:
“if you believe a special counsel was needed to look at the Trump world regarding Russia, how can you say there’s no need for a special counsel regarding Hunter Biden?”
This week, Hunter’s father, President-elect Joe Biden, was asked by reporters while at a speaking event in Delaware if he believed his son did nothing wrong. He replied:
“I am confident.”
Last week, the Biden transition team announced that Hunter was under a federal investigation regarding criminal tax issues.
Since then, the president and Senator Tom Cotton have also said they think a special counsel would be appropriate to investigate Hunter. But Graham believes the special counsel should look at more than just Hunter’s finances and taxes. He said:
“Somebody needs to look at his time on the board of Burisma. Somebody needs to look at his business dealings regarding China, to see if any crimes were committed.”
When Joe Biden was vice president, Hunter served on the board of Burisma, which is a gas company based in Ukraine. There have been accusations that Hunter used his father’s position to make gains in business there. Joe Biden also worked with other allies internationally to have the top prosecutor in Ukraine fired over some other matters.
Graham said that the Chinese Communist Party is “the evil empire of the 21st century.” He said that’s just another reason that a probe into Hunter Biden should be conducted.
He said:
“I’m afraid Biden’s going to be sort of like Chamberlain to Hitler, that when it comes to China, that the Biden’s administration’s ties to China through Hunter Biden need to be looked at to see if there are any conflicts.”
Earlier this week, Trump reportedly spoke with some of the top officials within his administration about the possibility of appointing a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, according to the Associated Press. Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, is one of the people who the president has talked to about it.
Trump was also angry at Attorney General William Barr, who announced he will resign soon, for not revealing details about the federal investigation into Hunter Biden before the November presidential election.
