Kamala Harris Scrambles To Border As Donald Trump Positioned To Beat Her

(FiveNation.com)- We now know the answer to the question “What will it take to get Kamala Harris to visit the border.”

The answer: Donald Trump.

Last week, after former President Donald Trump announced that he had accepted an invitation from Texas Governor Greg Abbott for an “official visit” to the US/Mexico border on June 30, suddenly Kamala Harris announced that she would be going too.

But don’t worry. It isn’t because Trump beat her to it. At least that’s what her husband Doug Emhoff is saying.

It’s pure coincidence that the woman tapped to deal with the border crisis over ninety days ago and refused to visit the border all that time just happened to make her announcement after Trump announced he was going.

“This is just the next phase in coordination,” Emhoff explained to NBC News. “Kamala Harris is not driven by any political issues or political pressure.”

How this man can be married to a woman and know absolutely nothing about her is a mystery.

Of course it’s driven by political pressure.

In his statement announcing his upcoming trip, President Trump called out Biden and Harris directly and accused them both of “willful dereliction of duty.”

To believe that the Harris team isn’t being driven by political pressure is deeply naïve.

Then again, the Biden Administration relies on the naïveté of Democrat voters – and reporters.

During a White House press briefing after Harris’ trip was announced, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Jen Psaki if Harris’ decision to finally go to the border was in response to President Trump’s visit.

Naturally Psaki dismissed the notion, claiming that they “made an assessment within our government” about when it would be appropriate for Kamala to go to the border.

But that’s not a no to Doocy’s question.

Fact is, an administration completely obsessed with optics would absolutely include in their “assessment” the “how would it look if Trump beats Kamala to the border” question.

As it is, Harris’ choice of location for her border visit makes this visit look like nothing more than a photo-op to quell the rising criticism against her.

During an interview with Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” after Harris’ visit was announced, Democrat Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar criticized the Vice President for avoiding the region most affected by Biden’s border crisis.

Cuellar scoffed at the notion of Harris visiting El Paso instead of the lower Rio Grande area, saying in El Paso “you are not going to get a true picture of what’s happening.”
