Everybody knows that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris don’t get along. She called him a racist in the debates back in 2020, she was only chosen because of the color of her skin by Biden’s own admission, and she stabbed him in the back to get the 2024 nomination with the help of Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.
So it should come as no surprise, then, that insiders have revealed how their respective teams are fighting behind the scenes.
At a Glance:
- Growing tensions between the Biden White House and Kamala Harris’ campaign, with frustrations over communication and coordination.
- Harris’ team feels the White House isn’t aligning messaging to benefit her campaign, while Biden aides struggle with their transition to a supporting role.
- Issues include conflicting event schedules and disagreements over staffing, leaving both camps at odds just before the 2024 election.
Tensions are reportedly on the rise between President Joe Biden’s White House and Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign team as Election Day approaches. An Axios report alleged growing friction and miscommunication between the two camps, with Harris’ team feeling that Biden’s staff has not coordinated properly to support her bid. Some of the dissatisfaction stems from incidents such as President Biden holding an impromptu press conference on the same day Harris was at a campaign event in Michigan—leading to a sense of undermining her efforts.

The disconnect extends beyond scheduling conflicts. One particularly contentious moment came when Biden praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his hurricane response, just after Harris publicly criticized DeSantis for not taking her calls. The lack of alignment in messaging left Harris aides frustrated. An insider remarked that the White House “lacks someone in the room thinking first and foremost about how things would affect the campaign,” according to the report.
Harris’ allies have reportedly complained that Biden aides are “too much in their feelings” about the president being pushed out of his re-election bid and that the White House has been slow to address staffing concerns raised by the Harris team. Harris’ campaign has been trying to bring in more staff to manage the increased workload but claims the process has been met with delays by the White House.
Additionally, there has been some tension surrounding Biden aides transitioning to the Harris campaign. Some former Biden staffers reportedly feel they have been branded as “disloyal” for considering joining Harris’ team. Axios also noted that there were squabbles over whether Biden’s original campaign surrogates would continue as television spokespersons or if new faces more loyal to Harris would take those roles.
In response to the report, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates stated that President Biden has endorsed Harris and is committed to providing her campaign with the resources and support necessary for a successful transition. However, the growing frustrations and strained relations between the two camps reflect deeper concerns about coordination and unity as Harris steps into the lead role for the 2024 election.
Surely everybody saw this coming, right?
At least, anybody honest…
