George Clooney Says Sharing Photos Of His Children Would Put Their Lives In Danger

(FiveNation.com)- Actor George Clooney recently published an open letter to the press, asking them not to take photographs of his children for the sake of their own protection.

Clooney, well known for his roles in Oceans Eleven and other major Hollywood productions, has twin children with his wife, Amal Clooney. Ella and Alexander Clooney are four years old, and little is known about them publicly. Amal Clooney’s work as a human rights lawyer was cited in the recent letter as a reason why the children may be at risk if their photographs were made public.

The letter was addressed to The Daily Mail and other publications.

“Having just seen photos of Billie Lourd’s one-year-old baby in your publication, and the fact that you subsequently took those pictures down, we would request that you refrain from putting our children’s faces in your publication,” they write in the letter.

Clooney added that he is a public figure and often accepts that intrusive photographs are the price he pays for the job he has, but he added that his children “have made no such commitment.”

He added that the nature of his wife’s work, which includes putting terrorist groups on trial, means they take as much precaution as they can to keep their children safe. And they can’t protect their children, he said, if publications put their faces on the covers of magazines and newspapers.

Clooney insisted that he has never sold pictures of his children, that his family is not on social media, and that they would never post their pictures because it would put their lives in jeopardy.

“Not paranoid jeopardy but real world issues, with real world consequences,” he added.

Fair point. But the question is, with the state of the media these days, will they really care – or will getting a photograph of Clooney’s children become a highly sought-after prize?
