(FiveNation.com)- Here’s an interesting correlation that the media is picking up on: crime surges across the United States have been the worst in districts where incumbent Democratic representatives are defending their seats in 2022.
According to a report by The Washington Examiner, toss-up seats currently controlled by Democrats have seen the worst spikes in violence and criminality over the last year. It’s yet another sign that the Democrats will struggle to maintain control of the House and Senate in this year’s midterm elections.
Out of the districts described as “toss-ups” by Cook Political Report, five have seen massive increases in crime. These districts include Iowa’s 3rd District, Illinois’ 17th District, Michigan’s 7th District, Virginia’s 2nd District, and Michigan’s 8th District.
In Michigan’s 8th District, Flint saw a 12% increase in homicides in 2021 compared to 2020. Saginaw also saw homicides more than triple over 2019’s figures.
In Virginia, the homicide rate increased substantially in the Hampton Roads region of the state, currently represented by Rep. Elaine Luria. In the city of Chesapeake, homicides increased by over 60%.
Over in Illinois, where Rep. Cheri Bustos is defending her seat, Peoria became the 15th deadliest city in the United States in 2021. It saw a spike in homicides last year, with 34 in total.
Rockford also saw a substantial rise in violent crime in 2021, though it was slightly less than the meteoric rise seen during 2020’s Antifa and Black Lives Matter riots.
With the worst violence taking place in Democrat-run cities, do you think American voters will finally start to notice a pattern?
