Bridge Collapses Hours Before Biden Was Supposed To Arrive

(FiveNation.com)- On the morning that President Joe Biden arrived in Pittsburgh to tour his $1 trillion infrastructure bill – which contained measures to strengthen America’s bridges – a two-lane bridge collapsed in the city.

The collapse thankfully causes no fatalities, but several people were injured and drivers formed a human chain to rescue people who were left dangling from a bus that fell with the bridge.

Take a look at this footage:

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman used the incident to call President Joe Biden “ahead of the curve” for pushing for new investments in infrastructure, but he failed to acknowledge the fact that Democrats stood in the way of President Donald Trump and his repeated efforts to pass infrastructure bills during his four years in the White House.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tweeted that the president had been informed of the bridge collapse that morning and that the White House was in touch with state and local officials as they gather information about what caused the bridge to collapse.

“@POTUS is grateful to the first responders who rushed to assist the drivers who were on the bridge at the time,” she added.

According to official reports, the bridge on Forbes Avenue collapsed at around 8 am. While investigations are still ongoing into what actually caused the bridge to collapse, officials also said that it caused a gas leak – but that the gas has been shut off since.

Few would disagree that the United States has a major infrastructure problem – and had Democrats not played politics with the matter, these investments could have been made as early as 2017.
