(FiveNation.com)- The Joe Biden campaign has performed a total u-turn on their decision to run an entirely digital and televised election campaign, recently announcing that their small team of activists now plan on going door-to-door to speak to voters.
It comes after the Biden campaign previously slammed President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign for running a large grassroots campaign effort, saying door knocking risked “the lives of voters.”
According to the Associated Press, the Biden campaign is preparing to launch its in-person canvassing efforts in a number of battleground states. The decision, the outlet claims, comes as Democrats grow increasingly concerned that Biden’s refusal to take part in grassroots campaigning is damaging his prospects of winning key swing states.
“The reversal also reflects a sense of rising urgency as polls tighten in key states just a month before Election Day,” the AP added.
John O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign manager, said that their voter contact operation “is the most innovative and technologically advanced of any presidential campaign in history.”
That means they’ve spent the most money on campaigning digitally rather than showing up in person and, you know, talking to voters.
“It has been thriving in this unprecedented environment,” Dillon said, before explaining that they are now “expanding” on their strategy “in a targeted way that puts the safety of communities first.”
Dillon also said that they would be attempting to reach voters who are more difficult to reach over the phone.
The efforts will involve dispatching hundreds of newly-trained volunteers in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada. But with just a few hundred people on the ground in the last few months, it will be hard to catch up with the efforts made by the Trump campaign.
President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign has seen more than 2.2 million people out on the ground, knocking on doors and engaging with people every single day. That’s more people than the Obama campaign claimed during their hugely successful 2012 campaign against Mitt Romney.
It’s worth casting our minds back just a couple of months, however, to when the Trump campaign was being bullied and smeared by the Biden campaign.

So does that mean Biden is willing to risk spreading COVID-19 if he thinks he’s about to lose?
