Given the short attention span of most Americans, some may already be forgetting that just a few months ago it was politically and socially forbidden to state an obvious truth: President Joe Biden has been in senile decline for years and often appears confused about where he is and who he is speaking about.
And the problem is not new. Back in 2022, Biden called out to an audience asking where Rep. Jackie Walorski was. The answer was a cemetery, as Walorski had died the month before in a car accident.
Recently, Biden has been caught repeatedly referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as “boss.” Ordinarily, this might be taken as a jocular way the actual boss tries to give a confidence boost to a subordinate, but given Biden’s mental confusion many are asking if this is an unwitting admission that Harris, not Biden, is actually running the White House.
But it’s getting worse. On September 26 Biden incorrectly referred to Ohio Senator JD Vance as “secretary.” Vance is Donald Trump’s running mate for vice president. Biden made the error at an event to mark the signing of executive orders that would create new gun-control working groups.
Press described Biden’s remarks at the event as scattered. For example, the president said that he had attended “all but three mass shootings” in the U.S. He then targeted JD Vance, saying that Vance did not care about mass shootings and gun deaths. Like Kamala Harris, Biden often tells the exact opposite of the truth. The remarks Biden characterized as showing Vance as cold and uncaring were expressing the opposite sentiment.
Vance remarked weeks ago that mass shootings were a regrettable “fact of life.” The Democrats instantly pounced, claiming that he simply brushed off mass murder as if it were no more meaningful than the weather. But in fact, Vance made the remarks in the context of a discussion about what needed to happen to better protect students from violence such as the recent shooting at a Georgia school.
Biden has also adopted a bellicose tone, often yelling when he speaks in a way that is definitely not characteristic of what Americans expect in presidential demeanor. After falsely claiming JD Vance minimized school shootings, Biden said, “Who the hell do these people think they are?”
Biden has also incorrectly referred to Kamala Harris as “the president” multiple times.
