Actress Says Hollywood Is Wrong About Young Motherhood

(FiveNation.com)- The actress Sydney Sweeney, well known for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has been rather open about how Hollywood handles young women who want to have kids.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 24-year-old actress stated that she always wanted to have a family and be a young mom.

She’s concerned about how this business stigmatizes and portrays young mothers differently.

Sweeney said, “I was concerned that if I didn’t work, I wouldn’t have any money or support for my kids.”

She acknowledged talking with her “Sharp Objects” co-star Amy Adams, who has a daughter, about how to combine her professional and personal lives. But Sweeney said that her anxiety about establishing a family resulted from financial difficulties.

She said that if she wanted to take a six-month hiatus, she didn’t have the income to cover it. She doesn’t have anyone helping her. She doesn’t have anyone she can call for aid or pay her expenses.

She said that they don’t compensate actors like they used to, and with streamers, you don’t receive residuals.

“The established stars still receive their salaries, but I have to pay 5% to my lawyer, 10% to my agents, and 3% or so to my business manager. Every month, I have to pay my publicist, which is more than my mortgage,” Sweeney said.

The “Euphoria” actress said that she had been compelled to acquire additional means of income besides performing.

“If I were to only act, I wouldn’t be able to support myself in Los Angeles. I accept agreements because I have to, said Sweeney.

Despite Sweeney’s concerns over her money, her star has recently increased. For her efforts on “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria,” the aspiring actor was just nominated for two Emmy Awards.

When she learned she was a contender for those prizes, she wasn’t anticipating it. She didn’t think about the entire award side of it when she fell in love with acting and when she fell in love with her characters.

Sweeney is presently engaged to Jonathan Davino, a 37-year-old businessman from Chicago. Despite being linked since 2018, the couple essentially keeps their romance a secret.
