Former President Biden’s ongoing border crisis took an unexpected turn when “high-threat” migrants suddenly appeared in Louisiana. The mysterious transfer of detainees from Guantanamo Bay raises serious security questions in the midst of Trump’s tougher border approach.
At a glance:
• 40 illegal migrants, including 23 categorized as “high-threat,” have been transferred from Guantanamo Bay to Louisiana
• No explanation was provided by defense officials for why these migrants were abruptly moved back to U.S. soil
• President Trump previously ordered preparations for a 30,000-bed facility at Guantanamo for “criminal illegal aliens”
• The transfer comes as Trump is expected to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to accelerate deportations
• The migrant camp at Guantanamo Bay cost taxpayers $16 million, with each tent costing approximately $3.1 million
Dangerous Migrants Arrive in Louisiana
All 40 illegal migrants previously detained at Guantánamo Bay have been transferred to Louisiana without explanation. The group includes 23 individuals classified as “high-threat illegal aliens” and 17 other migrants who were transported via Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) aircraft.
U.S. defense officials were reportedly left in the dark about the reasons behind this sudden transfer to American soil. This concerning development comes as the Trump administration continues to implement its promises to keep America’s border closed after years of mismanagement by President Biden and the Democrats.
Trump’s Bold Border Security Plan
In January, President Donald Trump instructed the Pentagon to prepare 30,000 beds at Guantanamo Bay for “criminal illegal aliens.” The operation to expand detention capabilities at the Cuba-based facility was halted in February, reportedly due to concerns about the facilities and the fact that they did not meet detention standards, lacking air conditioning and other vital utilities.
The detention plan was halted despite reassurances from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth who described the base as “the perfect place to provide for migrants who are traveling out of our country,” adding that it could house “the worst of the worst.”
The 195 tents that were set up for migrants at the base have not been utilized. Each tent cost American taxpayers approximately $3.1 million, totaling $16 million for accommodations that lack basic amenities.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Southern Command on Thursday said that no “illegal aliens” are being held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba after 40 immigrants were flown off the base on Tuesday to Louisiana. https://t.co/6aHLfCnLsz

Alien Enemies Act to Target Dangerous Gangs
President Trump is expected to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite deportations in the near future. This historic wartime law would provide authority to detain or deport natives and citizens of enemy nations, with a particular focus on members of the notoriously violent Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang.

Trump has repeatedly stressed his commitment to “eradicating the scourge” of illegal immigration and the criminal elements it brings into American communities. The transfer of these high-threat migrants to Louisiana raises serious questions about the current administration’s handling of dangerous individuals who entered the country illegally.
